The term “Cosplay” was made in 1984 at the Los Angeles Science Fiction Worldcon by Nov Takashi using a common Japanese method of abbreviation , where the first two moras, of a pair of words are used to form a single word. Cos, from costume, becomes kosu, and play becomes pure making the Japanese word kosupure, which is Cosplay in English.

Cosplayers are found at many different events. Some drive hours and hours to get to one of these events just so they can anime cosplay and hang out with other cosplayers. One way to find an event is to use search engines. If you use the Internet more than likely you know what a search engine is. If you don’t a search engine is a tool designed to search for information while you are on the Internet. It takes a while to find anything on search engines, but if you type in the right phrase it shouldn’t take that much time.
There are a lot of sites were Cosplayers post pictures of their cheap cosplay costumes and tell the others bout the new ones they are getting together that have event lists. sellcosplay.com has updated Cosplay Events Lists. These lists have all the dates, times, places, and websites of the event. They don’t just have the information for events that are happening in the United States but in places like Japan, and London also.
